Puppy classes start teaching the basics needed for a well behaved family pet. We believe in making training fun for both the dog and their owner, and use positive motivational training methods. Puppies aged 10 to 20 weeks are welcome in this 6 week program (1 night per week.)
The prevention of puppy problems and finding workable solutions to problems that already exist like housebreaking, jumping up, barking, nipping, chewing and digging is another important aspect of the puppy classes. The objective is to lay the foundation for a well socialized dog who is reliable and easy to control. Instruction is easy to follow - kids are welcome to train their dogs too! |

Puppies and dogs 20 weeks and older are welcome in this 8 week program. Designed for dogs with little or no previous training, the beginner classes are also suitable for an older dog who is in need of 'social skills'!
The objective is to have a well socialized dog who is reliable in public and easy to control. Also, you receive a foundation in how to teach and train your dog that will give you the skills and confidence to continue reinforcing classroom skills at home. By the end of the 8 weeks your dog will be able to sit, down, stay, stand, come when called (the first time!) and heel (walk on leash) without pulling. |

In the advanced classes, dogs and their handlers pick up where they left off after the beginners class and further refine handling techniques. The process starts by making sure that the dogs are completely comfortable with all commands while on leash (sit, down, stay, heel, stand.) Hand signals are then substituted for the verbal commands and the distance between the handler and dog increases (while still on lead) with the dog following visual commands from a distance. Eventually the dog is trained to follow commands, either voice or hand, while off lead. The purpose of this process is to leave you with a pet that could be controlled if for some reason he/she were to get loose, and to make him/her more manageable in and around your home. |

Owners and their dogs have fun learning to complete an obstacle course which includes tunnels, hoops, jumps, and various types of dog walks such as: ramps, narrow elevated planks, and teeter-totter walks. Off leash handling and commands are refined, and your dog learns to have a greater trust in you - learning that, although you might ask him/her to do something unusual, you would never place them in danger. This bonding is established in a fun way with lots of rewards and laughs! |
